foreword
Crimes against the
environment involve pollution of land, air and water, and the destruction of
forests and habitats of many different animal and plant species. In this
important work, Hardiat dani Satria provides an analysis of environmental law
enforcement in Central Java, arguing that 'sustainability' should be the
driving concept in responding to environmental crime, and that the community as
well as government organisations need to be active participants in repairing
the harms done to the environment. The quality of the environments within which
we live, work and play is vital to health and well being. In the end, we are
all responsible for protecting Nature - for this is what gives us life.
